Well we've had a really busy summer and its been great to see so many of our regulars at so many events! All have been great fun and we still love meeting new customers.
The boys have been working all the day light hours crab, lobster, whelk and bass fishing. Making up for the windy start to the year. The largest Sea Bass caught so far is a whopping 14lb, a very happy crew that day. A new line this autumn are Crab Cakes, made with our lovely white crab meat, tasty warmed through with some mayonnaise, (we recommend Fussels). Also back for a winter warmer is the Red Thai Crab Soup, both can be found on the market stall. Hope to 'catch' you soon!
Dorset Shellfish is owned by Caroline Drever, who runs the business with daughter Stef. They believe in providing quality shellfish and fish caught from her partner Grahams boats the Nil Desperandum and Marauder and other day boats working out of Weymouth.
Graham and son Karl run their boats together, one for crabbing and one for line caught Bass fishing. All the fishing methods ensure that any crab, lobster or fish which is not large enough to land is returned to the sea un harmed.
Crab is cooked and handpicked by them, (a labour of love?!) and made into beautiful dressed crab, crab pate and crab soup. All 2012 and 2013 Taste of the West Award winners. They are really excited about 2013 with Red Thai Crab Soup being a new popular addition to their range, wining a Bronze Award at The Taste of the West.
Pots of crab meat, Weymouth Bay Prawns, lobsters and other shellfish delights are also sold by them at Dorset Farmers Markets, Somerset Farmers Markets, food festivals and shows. From Frome to Bridport, Crewkerne to Canford Cliffs.
